Job Description

As an Enterprise Architect, you will be responsible for helping our business develop the technology strategy to achieve our goals. You will work in a fast-paced environment in Iarnród Éireann. You will be at the forefront of driving technological innovation and automation across the organisation, enabling Iarnród Éireann to responsibly leverage modern technologies to empower both our people and our customers.
The Enterprise Architect must have a strong technical background, significant experience working as an enterprise architect ensuring that best practice is always implemented and demonstrate architectural leadership.
2.2 Experience
• The Enterprise Architect being proposed must have a minimum of 3 years working in an EA role
• Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a software development/analysis role
• Extensive development experience, with multiple technologies
• Bachelor's degree in business, information systems or related discipline
• Strong technical background
• Extensive experience working with cloud technologies, specifically Azure
• Experience of working in a DevOps/Agile environment
• Knowledge of and experience working with EA tools, preferably Software AG Alfabet/Aris, Jira/Confluence, and LucidChart, Azure DevOps
• Experience in technology, application, data, and integration architecture. Including planning, design and implementation of large-scale projects

2.3 Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the role are:
• Creation, updating, and maintenance of the key EA deliverables and artefacts
• Ensure project compliance with IÉ Principles and Standards
• Establish and grow relationships with key stakeholders in business units to fully understand business activities and drivers
• Definition, implementation, and execution of the processes for the definition, maintenance, and conformance management of the EA
• Definition and development of relevant reference architectures
• Architectural leadership in the resolution of inter-program and inter-project issues, to ensure that best practice is always implemented
• Continuing promotion of the EA function in the wider organisation
• Identification of EA opportunities across the organisation
• Develop and maintain architectural roadmaps
• Liaising with third parties (NTA, CIE, Suppliers, etc) ensuring that best practice is followed and standards adhered to
• Development of IÉ Principles and Standards
2.4 Duties
• Work closely with Lead Enterprise Architect and Chief Technical Officer
• The person needs to be a self-starter that can work independently
• Develop and coordinate Architecture Plans working closely with Business Analysts to produce as-is and to be models
• Develop the Enterprise Architecture in Alfabet / Aris
• Maintain the EA Repository in Alfabet / Aris / Confluence
• Assist Lead Enterprise Architect in aligning business and enterprise initiatives with the Enterprise Architecture
• Audit/ensure compliance within the Enterprise Architecture standards
• Serve as advisor to business on EA and information integration strategies
• Promote EA to the wider organisation

2.5 Required Skill Set
The Enterprise Architect will play a key role in the CTO department and will have the following key skills:
• Strong communication skills – written and verbal (presentations, seminars)
• Group session facilitation – ability to lead large group sessions
• Ability to lead and mentor teams
• Ability to explain complex issues in general terms to a non-technical audience
• Ability to work as part of a team with solution architects, business analysts, CTO, CIO and other CxO colleagues
• Be a proven self-starter able to work on own initiative
• DevSecOps, DataOps experience
• TOGAF, Archimate, Agile Certified • Proficient in complex planning, with the ability to handle ambiguity and contribute to multiple streams of programs and initiatives. • Experience in fostering a culture of learning and maintaining a high-performing workforce. • Well-informed about industry trends such as IOT, AI/Machine Learning and Event-Driven Architecture.
