Position Description
The primary function of this Project Manager role is to manage the day-to-day project activities in the deployment of rapid charging points on highway sites in London, initially through a network development project with Hackney Borough Council and subsequently through further local authority contracts as they are secured by the Business Development team.
Reporting directly to the Infrastructure Delivery Manager, the local engineering and project teams are responsible for the delivery of EV charging schemes in line with project timelines and budgets, liaising with stakeholders including clients, DNOs/IDNOs and subcontractors, managing project safety and coordinating administrative project processes including public consultation and works permitting.
The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for daily operations of EV rapid charging deployment projects, ensuring that tasks are appropriately assigned, tracked and completed in line with project requirements while also being the primary point of communication with the Council regarding the project. The role will be supported by project management, contract management and engineering resources available to the project team.
Electrification of transport is a key pillar Brighter Future Strategy – reducing the carbon impact from transport and improving air-quality . The company owns and operates an extensive public EV Charging Network in Great Britain and Ireland consisting of over 2,000 fast, rapid and high power EV charging points.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordination of day-to-day activities and operations within the project to ensure that the scope is delivered in line with agreed timelines and budgets
• Coordinate and lead communications with key external project stakeholders including the Client’s project team and the DNO, drawing on internal resources for technical support where required
• Work with the Frameworks Manager to coordinate the establishment and maintenance of supply chains for the project
• Coordinate required inputs from the Pre-Construction & Design Team to ensure that designs are produced on schedule, risk assessments completed and legislative responsibilities fulfilled by respective design & HSEQ resources
• Coordinate the activities of external subcontractors to ensure the safe & successful delivery of works
• Coordinate the public consultation and TMO processes to transition sites from design to delivery
• Track and report on project progress and contractor performance against scope, budgets, schedules, timelines and safety requirements
• Work with the commercial team to support tracking of contract commercial performance against the business case
• Coordinate the transition of completed and commissioned sites to the Operations teams
• Work closely with the project team to ensure safe and effective delivery of high quality EV charging infrastructure
Experience and Qualifications
Essential
• A relevant 3rd level qualification or equivalent work experience is essential.
• A minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience in highways or similar engineering.
• Proven work experience as a Project Manager, Project Coordinator or similar role
• Experience in project management, from conception to delivery
• Strong organisational skills including multitasking and time-management
• Excellent stakeholder management and teamwork skills
• Excellent problem solving abilities
• Familiarity with risk management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Microsoft Project or equivalent project management software
Desirable
• Knowledge & experience of engineering or EV charging infrastructure deployment or other highways projects (e.g. public lighting)
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus
